In 1989 David Hockney, who was born and grew up in Bradford, was invited to design the front cover of the district's telephone directory. It’s a charming picture of his home turf: a deep valley dotted with mills, terraced houses, City Hall and a little blue bus. As for the text inside - well, it's detailed, extensive and entirely out of date!
