The Story
A stunning piece of 60s design by the master ceramicist Aldo Londi. Greek-style decoration through a midcentury Italian lens, hand-turned in red clay. Decorated with black profiles brushed with wax and glossy turquoise and white crackle glaze. We're showing this piece in store next to the 'Don 1' vase - they look superb together.
Original year of production 1960; re-issued by Bitossi in 2006 in a limited edition 199 pieces.
Made by Bitossi in Italy.
About Aldo Londi
The Bitossi family had been making ceramics for hundreds of years, but when Aldo Londi joined them in 1946 they became internationally known. Londi was with Bitossi for fifty years, first as a painter, then as artistic director, and finally as tireless researcher of styles and examples to be emulated. His work is immediately recogniseable: always fresh, always sharp, always inviting.
