The idea of using droplets of glass as decoration came to designer Oiva Toikka when he was thinking of ways of covering the joint marks left on the surface of pressed glass pieces by the production process. His groundbreaking raised glass droplet pattern resembles strings of dewdrops glistening under the morning sun. Kastehelmi (“dewdrop” in Finnish) plays with light, truly bringing out the reflective beauty of the glass.
