The Story
The minimalist symmetrical shape of the Ruutu vase, designed by brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, is based on the finely honed craftsmanship of the most skilled craftsmen at the Iittala glass factory. The production of a single vase requires the work of seven glass professionals and a total of 24 hours. The result of all this work is a clean, clear, ice-like glass that is a testament to Iittala's expertise.

About the designers
Paris-based designer brothers Ronan (b. 1971) and Erwan Bouroullec (b. 1976) have been working together for about 15 years. The strength of the cooperation is the common effort to be careful and the challenge is the different personalities of the brothers.
The brothers' partners in the field of design include Vitra, Magis, Cappellini, Alessi, Flos, Kvadrat, Mattiazzi and HAY. The collaboration between Studio Bouroullec and Iittala began in the late 1990s in connection with the Relations project. In collaboration with the Creo Gallery, the Bouroullec brothers have carried out many experimental projects by designing different spaces and furniture, participating in architectural projects, designing textile wall ensembles or entire collections.
