The Story

This poster is extraordinary - ingeniously cut and produced, it’s officially not flat. It reproduces Richard Smith’s Bramble lithograph of 1970.

The poster is made of two sheets – a top layer with the type, the green and some of the violet rectangle and a bottom layer of violet paper with a strip that feeds through to the top layer, resting across the surface in a diagonal left to right direction. The poster – its really more object than poster – exemplifies the production techniques of Petersburg Press, who made it for Richard Smith’s retrospective of graphics and multiples at the Arnolifini Gallery, Bristol, 1970. Smith was far ahead of his time.

Approximate dimensions: 76.2 x 56cm

This is an archive poster, printed by the Petersburg Press in 1970, now collectable and in very short supply. Given its age the condition is very, very good.  Our stock is sold as new. Please hang away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. We send out posters rolled in tubes.

We do sell this poster framed in stunning extruded aluminium, but only for collection in person at Salts Mill. To find out more please email [email protected]
